Literacy: Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan
Each year more than 450 local school children receive literacy tutoring
from a corps of 150 University of Michigan students through the America
Reads Program, supported by the Edward Ginsberg Center for Community
Service and Learning. One of the Center’s many success stories, the
America Reads Tutoring Program serves elementary schools in Detroit
and Ypsilanti. The Community Foundation
for Southeastern Michigan has
partnered with the Ginsberg Center on this important program to bring
U-M undergraduates into schools four days a week for tutoring, provide
books and teaching materials, and host special literacy-related events.
