Science: The James S. McDonnell Foundation
The James S. McDonnell
Foundation invests in outstanding research
in complex systems, brain cancer, and human cognition through their
21st Century Science Initiative. The University of Michigan is proud
to be a long-time partner of the Foundation, as together we solve
complicated problems with a complex systems approach. Most recently,
we are honored to announce that U-M diabetes researcher Santiago
Schnell, Ph.D, has won a three-year research award from the Foundation
for his work on the processes that trigger protein misfolding and
accumulation in cells. Dr. Schnell is Associate Professor of Molecular
and Integrative Physiology, Research Associate Professor of Computational
Medicine and Biology, and U-M Brehm Investigator at the Brehm Center
for Diabetes Research. Visit the Brehm Center web site to read more about the fascinating
work that Dr. Schnell’s team will undertake during the three years
of the McDonnell grant.
